What I done to my pump was replace the impeller, the two seals and I ask to a craftman to add a copper gasket at the engine side of the pump. It is important to note that there is a hole between the two seals. When you install de pump again you have to pay attention to leave the hole pointed to ground.
After you repair the pump, if that dont solve the water-oil problem, you should check the head gaskets.
My opinion is that this engine is a very good engine to learn something about diesel engines, and their basics. I recommend you to fix it…
