Hi Matsu,
My centurion with the MD2B pass easily 6 knots.
However 2500 Rpm its his maximum revs, I dont think you can cruise at that revs.
My experience tells me that the state of the boat behind influence very much his speed.
Greetings
PedroParticipantHi,
There’s no link at all. After solving the engine temperature problems (diff of 15-20 ºC between the two heads) I verifyed with the laser thermometer that the dinamo reaches temperatures of 95 ºC. However, I check that my engine had some changes in that chapter, like, the tension regulator. I’m working on that. When I have the thing figured out I post the results of my investigation.
Thanks!!
PedroParticipantHi everyone.
Thanks for the tips. I’ve already solved the temperature problems. The two engine heads warm up at the right temperatures. Its true that I didnt had the time to check this for a long period running, but seems to be ok. The main problem was the exhaust manifold. I did not manufacture a new exhaust manifold, because I could upgrade the old one by welding Inox pipes through the walls. I saw used exhaust manifolds in the internet but, the price and the quality of them didnt match.
Like Diamba I build a system to put fresh water inside the engine a flush it.
Thanks to all of you.
PedroParticipantHi Okeanos,
Thanks for your reply. Very nice site. However I think I will let that kind of operation for the next winter. 🙂
PedroParticipantHi guys,
I have a St2000 instaled. This weekend i’l take some photos and measures and I posto.
Greetings
PedroParticipantHi, thanks for your reply.
I’ve checked the thermostat and its opening, at 72 C. So I order a new one, that I didnt installed yet. The motor has a good debit, the water pump is new (impeller and cam) . The needle of the gauge reaches 70 C in one hour running. What intrigues me is the temperature difference between the heads of 10 C aprox.

Thank you, I have that workshop manual. I will check the water circulation, by taking off and clean the exhaust manifold, the next weekend.
You can check my engine running at tbe following video. The temperatures were tanken after 30 minutes running.
PedroParticipantHi Okeanos,
I’m just working at the moment in my MD2B with Dynastart, the firs thing I’ve done was fix the water pump. Like was said before, it is really very dificult to remove it, but it is possible. Head down and legs up…
What I done to my pump was replace the impeller, the two seals and I ask to a craftman to add a copper gasket at the engine side of the pump. It is important to note that there is a hole between the two seals. When you install de pump again you have to pay attention to leave the hole pointed to ground. After you repair the pump, if that dont solve the water-oil problem, you should check the head gaskets.
My opinion is that this engine is a very good engine to learn something about diesel engines, and their basics. I recommend you to fix it…
With mine I have an issue with head temperatures, I’m studying, and I didnt achieve any conclusion. I posted for this topic…
